Did you know that I have never been to a fire station? I must have missed that day in Elementary School. Or in KZ's family, every Christmas Day :) Since I just can't get enough of Holly's class, last week I invited myself on their field trip to FDNY Ladder 73 in the Bronx. Holly assigned me as the trip photographer . . . of the fireman of course, not the kids :) But since the kids were so stinking cute - their facial expressions were priceless! - there are lots of photos.
When we first got to the station all of the kids were so excited to see the fire truck. However the firemen told them they (and their teacher) were all wrong - and that they were looking at a fire engine, not a fire truck. The truck has the ladder, the engine has the water. See, you learn something new everyday. I enjoyed the whole tour of the station . . . oh wait, I mean the kids really enjoyed the tour.
Learning stop, drop and roll;
Spraying the cars with water (Eddie is the most adorable trouble maker ever);
Hearing the sirens and seeing the lights;
Sitting in the "chauffeur" seat;
And the best part of the day . . . watching Miss B become a fireman. Priceless, absolutely priceless. And in case there was any doubt, Holly loved having the firemen dress - and undress - her!
And I love this picture. Miss B in her element, being the great teacher she is.
