Amalfi Coast and Pompeii

I was so excited to drive the Amalfi Coast and see the stunning views, amazing cliffs and coves, gardens and landscape. Sadly it was a little overcast, but it was still AMAZING.

We stopped in Amalfi and ducked in a pastry shopped right as it started to rain - who cares that it was 9 am :)

After the coast, we went to Pompeii. I must admit that Mom insisted we go to Pompeii - instead of Capri, like I wanted - but it was really cool. Destroyed and buried in ash during the eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius (Greek anyone? :) Ah Cappi) in 79 AD. It was rediscovered in 1748 and was preserved by the ash with extraordinary detail. It's an amazing insight into the Roman Empire.

There is a cameo factory in Pompeii too, so of course we had to do some shopping :) Did you know that you have to go to school to learn the art of cameo carving for seven years! Seven years makes for beautiful jewelry.
