Frequent Flyer Adventures

I have been traveling - a lot - lately for work. Besides being exhausting and great for my career, I've also had some pretty amazing meals and interesting experiences. Just a few recent highlights:

Park City: Oh it's only 45 minutes from my apartment sure, but with late nights and early mornings and an opportunity to stay in a beautiful hotel - I packed my bags. And now I've decided a fireplace in the bedroom is a necessity. And while I don't like being cold (I mean I really don't like being cold), Future Boyfs take note, dinner at the Viking Yurt was really fun. A sleigh ride up the mountain to dinner. Pretty awesome.

Greenwich, Connecticut: I was stuck in one of the many New England snowstorms, but had the most amazing meal. If you are ever in CT and money isn't an issue, go to Valbella. And eat in the wine cellar if you can. Get the seafood appetizer and get the chocolate souffle.

Branson, Missouri: When I heard I would be going to Branson, the first thing that popped in my head was "backwoods hillbilly." Then my coworkers started talking about the cabins they stayed in last year, and the stories kept getting funnier and funnier. I had no idea what I was in for. And then I walked into the cabin and saw this.

I kid you not, had I not been with my boss I might have screamed and jumped back a little. I laughed it off as "cute" cabin decor (those creepy beady eyes are so not cute). And then turned around to this.

And then I went to bed and woke up to this.

And rolled over to the other side to find this.

And there was some animal neither my boss nor I had any idea what it was in her room. Can you tell I'm not a cabin/hunting/animal person. But the area was beautiful - and even more so when we woke up to snow.

New York: I love being able to stay in the city, see friends, eat my favorite foods, and sometimes stay in fun hotels. Last time, I stayed at The Empire Hotel. Chuck Bass' hotel. It's not weird or pathetic at all that I loved that I was staying at a real/fictional hotel. It was Fashion Week so when I walked into the lobby there was a party going on with lots of people and drinks and music - all adding to the Gossip Girl-esque.

Even without the GG product placement, I've always loved the location of this hotel. Right by one of my favorite spots in the city - Lincoln Center. And the view from my room didn't disappoint. Best morning wake-up.

Next stops: Vegas, Mexico City, San Juan PR, Newark NJ and back to Connecticut. More adventures to come . . .

Texas Forever

I'm sitting in my seat while my flight is still boarding and I notice an extremely attractive guy walking down the aisle. Tall, wearing a baseball hat (well, I might add), scruff, carrying ski boots. Sold. Then I heard him say ma'am while helping a lady lift her luggage. Swoon. By now I'm staring . . . and possibly drooling. But then he took his jacket off to sit down . . . and he was wearing a Panthers Football t-shirt. I almost jumped him right then and there.

Now if only he was sitting next to me :)

Crafty is not a Term Anyone would use to Describe Me

I bought a hot glue gun. For a craft project. Craft project? Hot glue gun? I'm not quite sure what happened. But then again it has been sitting in the JoAnne's bag for a while now. We'll see if I actually open it and complete the project.

The Latest Addition to My Place

In 2005 a co-worker told me how much she loved whatever treats I had brought into the office - I'm pretty sure they were pumpkin something :) - and that she needed to see lots more from Brooks Bakes. The name stuck. Lately Shannan has been trying to claim my imaginary bakery as her own, so I had Brooks Bakes officially created for her for Christmas. And of course I had to have a sign for my kitchen as well. You can't tell but it's navy . . . and I love it.
