Oh What A Night(s)

You’d never know it from the past few days – it’s seriously felt like October here! But, this weekend was absolutely gorgeous. Kelli came up from DC last weekend to see Heather in Jersey Boys with me. On Saturday we had to go get some sweet potato fries for brunch, and then took a walk through the park for Karen and Kelli’s first Pinkberry experience.

Central Park was just gorgeous.

Saturday night Kelli and I went to Jersey Boys. It was phenomenal.

I mean I always knew Heather was good, but it was great to see her perform. She was just amazing. And of course, so was the rest of the cast. I was signing “Walk Like A Man,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Sherry,” “December, 1963 - Oh What a Night,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” all weekend. And afterwards Heather showed us around backstage. It was pretty funny going to the stage door. There was a line of people with posters and cameras all ready for autographs, and then Kelli and I just walked right past the barricades and through the door, no questions asked. Well we met some of the cast and saw backstage. It was really neat to see the props and get the tour from Heather. And the real Tommy DeVito was in the audience too, so we met him backstage as well. It was a fun night. Thanks Heather!

And it’s been a week of Broadway and visitors. My friend Lauren is in town with her mom for the week, and we went to see The Drowsy Chaperone on Tuesday.

It was an interesting show; the jury’s still out about how I feel about it. I mean Gilbert Blythe was the "Man in the Chair," but . . . What I do know for sure is how much I miss Lauren! Lauren and I met on London study abroad. While we were in the same group, we didn’t really know each other until a trip to Edinburgh. While we were sightseeing in the city suddenly everyone we were with went their separate ways and it was just the two of us. We were pretty much inseparable the rest of the semester. Lauren is married now and lives in DC, and I just don’t get to see her enough! So, it was a fun night :)

You didn't like Drowsy? I'm surprised. I liked it sooo sooo much, but Gilbert (as much as I love him) wasn't the man in the chair and shows always seems to be a little better with the original cast...

I'm so happy my name made an appearance on your blog, and that you are on facebook, btw! Um, ya, Drowsy Chaperone was ok, but you know which one I absolutely loved?! Legally Blonde. have you seen it? Pure chick flick in musical form. Love it (and listening to the soundtrack right now!)
