We took the subway down to 50th and I couldn't believe how weird it was to get out and have the streets be completely empty. The roads were already closed at 3:30 and the police barricades were limiting pedestrian traffic. It was eerily quiet.
We met up with KC, her friend Jo, and Stephanie at 4, grabbed some last minute snacks, and started to make our way into the crowds. We ended up in a great location right on the southeast corner of 45th Street. The MTV studios were right across from us, FOX was filming at the Planet Hollywood right across 45th Street on the north side, the stage was just a block up and NBC ended up filming right in front of our barricades.
Yes, that's Tiki Barber. He was the correspondent for NBC and they filmed right in front of us all night. He is one attractive man, and it was fun to have the cameras around all night. But I think the best thing was these two guys (which I must say were also really attractive . . . KC you should have gone for that New Years kiss!) freaking out meeting him. Ah, Giants fans.
At 6 o'clock they raised the ball.
Then every hour there were countdowns for other times zones. So how do you spend 9 hours in a pen? Where I surprisingly never felt like cattle! KC came prepared with entertainment. Times Square NYE celebration trivia anyone - Did you know that this year was the 100th anniversary of the ball drop?
And the game I would have NEVER thought to bring, but ended up being the best thing to kill time. And we got the best looks from the people around us who thought we were crazy - they were just jealous! I've decided that Hasbro should do a hugh NYE promotion next year for everyone in Times Square passing out Catch Phrase games to everyone . . . they should hire me :)
I can't tell you how many layers I had on and THANK GOODNESS the weather was really great! I wasn't cold once. I had so many clothes on KC thought I looked like a turtle when I pushed my shoulders up and my head got lost in my coat :)
I had a ton of fun with these girls. When you have all the time in a the world, you take a lot of pictures :)
Naturally KC had to point to the sky
Finally the time game. The clock counted down and it was 2008! Fireworks, a ton (literally) of confetti, singing New York, New York and cheering with a million of my closest friends in the greatest city in the world!

I won't lie. I was exhausted after standing for more than 9 hours, but it was worth it! Welcome 2008! I think it's going to be a good year.

Believe me, I regret not taking advantage of that New Years kiss more than you know! Here's to making 2008 a lot more eventful than it started out! So glad that we got to experience this insantiy together. :)
