Richard Misrach: On the Beach
I love photography, and I especially love large scale photography. (Some as these were as large as 6 x 10 feet.) To me it feels like one of Bert's sidewalk drawings in Mary Poppins that you can just jump into. Plus I love the beach. But what I love about these photos is that not only are they take your breath away gorgeous, but they are also a little creepy. All of the photos were taken with a godlike viewpoint high above, without horizon lines, so they seem to go on and on outside the frame of the picture. In one of the pictures it kind of looked like the people were walking on water, but no it was just a shallow area. Another picture shows a woman all by herself staring out into the water. Another is a bunch of sunbathers that seem to all be in their own world and yet lying right next to each other. You might think I'm crazy, and you might just have to take my word for it, but I loved it.
And friend, you had better believe when I am rich and famous - okay, fine, when I have a house - I'm commissioning you to take some awesome pictures like this for me. :)
These little copies don't do the originals justice, but here are a few.

Amen.
Those are BEAUTIFUL! I love them. And they definitely belong in your house some day -- Beach Beauty. I just read Rach's blog and it sounds like you showed her a good old fashioned great southern time. You both are looking fabulous these days! Looks like so much fun! Miss you both lots!
I remember you with your camera and I have framed a really cute black and white photo that you took of Mallory when she was a baby, at HH. I think you should pursue it! Thanks for sharing this artist. I love the photos.
Love. Love.
