Oh Christmas Tree

When a friend asked me what I was planning on doing over Thanksgiving break I told him - sleep, eat and buy a Christmas Tree. I love our family tradition of buying our Christmas Tree the day after Thanksgiving. Picking out the perfect tree has always been a top priority. When I was little we used to go out to a Christmas Tree Farm and actually cut down our tree. We would walk the rows and rows of trees in search of the perfect one. When we thought we found "the" tree, we'd put Dad's hat on the tree to claim it - then continue our search to make sure we couldn't find anything better.

I think my uncle said it best when he said, "You girls are great individually, but you are so much more fun in a pack." Five very opinionated girls. One opinionated Dad. One practical Mom. And Grandma. Everyone with their own opinion. Everyone voicing that opinion . . . at the same time. It's quite the outing.

On Friday the first place we stopped had the most pitiful selection of trees. We did find a great tree, but it was sold. I tried to outbid the current purchaser, but the employee didn't think I was very funny. So we left grumpy and sad.

Our next stop was Christmas Tree heaven. There were tons of perfect trees. Every year we try to convince Dad to go bigger - bigger is always better. Just because we have 10 foot ceilings does not mean that we shouldn't be able to get a 12 foot tree . . . totally normal :)

We left with the perfect tree, and sang (or should I say screamed) Christmas songs the whole way home.

I'm so excited for the Christmas season.

Time out. Is your dad wearing garland on his head or is that an optical illusion?

Beautiful tree! And the Christmas season is so much fun when you are in school - you actually get time off!
