Star Gazing

Yesterday I had to go to the Post Office after work, so I took the subway to 66th St instead of 72nd. When I got out I realized that the ABC Upfronts were taking place at Lincoln Center. While I knew the Upfronts would be over, I thought there was still a chance the after-party could be going on. I decided to walk over, and started to pass a few wearing people with ABC passes. I thought if I saw ABC employees leaving everything must be over, but I decided to keep walking anyway. Well, it turns out the after-party WAS going on! So, acting like a complete dork and completely out of character, I stopped on 62nd St and stood with the paparazzi and the handful of other bypassers and watched to see if anyone would walk out. There was a line of limos all up and down 62nd St so I figured this was the exit they’d be using, but since I had no idea with the party started or ended I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Well, the next thing I know Lucy Liu is standing right in front of me looking at her assistant to figure out which limo to get into. Lucy Liu! While, yes, a big star, not really someone I care about, but I figure with the paparazzi and Lucy Liu leaving I thought I’d stick around for a bit. It turned into my biggest celebrity sighting of my two years in NYC!

The Exit - I'm kind of surprised and impressed with the quality of this picture since it's from my phone!

Kate Walsh walked out next – looking stunning – and while everyone was screaming at her I noticed someone out of the corner of my eye. PIZ!! Piz – I mean, Chris Lowell, was walking right by looking so great going almost unnoticed. I found myself almost screaming, “I love you Piz!” I did show a little restraint, but the guy next to me turned and looked at the big grin on my face and asked who he was. Now, I was really grinning ear to ear! :) I had planted my feet on the sidewalk, prayed that no one I knew would walk by and see me acting like a star-struck tourist, and cursing the fact that I didn’t have my camera.

Over the next half an hour I saw Michael Vartan – Yes, he’s coming back to TV!

Almost the whole cast of Grey’s: Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Sara Ramirez, Chandra Wilson, Justin Chambers, James Pickens Jr., Eric Dane (with Rebecca Gayheart)

Some of the Private Practice (Addison spin-off) cast: Amy Brenneman, Eric Mabius, Merrin Dungey, Tim Daly

Eric Mabius and Rebecca Romijn from Ugly Betty

Rob Lowe, Calista Flockhart, Dave Annable and Sally Field from Brothers & Sisters

Matthew Fox and Josh Holloway from Lost

Laura Prepon and Bryan Greenberg from October Road

Ty Pennington from Extreme Home Makeover

Kristin Chenoweth and Christina Applegate who are going to be on new shows next season

Seriously I saw so many great stars! McSteamy looked great! Ellen Pompeo actually came over to the fans and signed autographs. Most of the rest of the stars all waved and were surprisingly nice – not just running to their limos.

Eric Dane with Rebecca Gayheart

The white blob on the middle (to the right of the guy in the grey suit) is Ellen Pompeo

All in all - a fun half an hour of star watching!

Ok 1) I'm jealous, and 2) at first I thought you had taken ALL of those pictures with your camera phone and I was amazed. Shows you how smart I am. Ha! I don't think our friendship will ever recover from this one, I am extremely envious... ;)

Jealously doesn't begin to describe my thoughts and feelings right now. My own blog of seeing Amanda Peet in Soho...now feels stupid compared to your experience. I guess if it wasn't me who got to have MAJOR celeb sightings...I'm glad it was you! :)
